Mako Eyes order no. 1

Guess what I found in my kitchen cupboard yesterday! :D
A package way too big for the three pair of Mako Eyes that was in there XD'
I was so happy and quickly opened the package while sending pics to dear Anne as one of the pair of eyes are hers.
Without further ado, lets see what was in the package.

 I only took pics with flash, as I had problems with getting the eyes to be in focus with my new lens (granted, I was in a hurry, so I gave up quickly)

I'm very amazed by the quality of these! So clear and perfect. They are exactly what I wanted, and looks 100% like they do on other owner pics. :D

Anne's VI-006 eyes. They are very pretty!

 I knew it! He has such a charismatic face even without faceup :D'

I really wanted some striking brown eyes for him, and these are PERFECT *___*

These are IB-006 eyes.

 I noticed poor Ludwig had wonky eyes on the pictures I sent to Anne, so I fixed them and took this picture in stead XD'

Too bad I want to kill his wig >:( WIG! Y U so much ruin?? Its a IH wig, and even though there is a lot of hair, the wig cap is still showing ;_;"

But all in all its just not the colour for him I think. Any suggestions? Maybe a mix of grey and black? Idk ^^"

I'm SO satisfied with these eyes! Idk why I haven't bought from Mako before. As the title of this entry says, this is only the first order I'll be placing with Mako. All my dollies need Mako eyes now XD'

Updates 'n stuff

Thought I'd write an entry with whatever doll-related I can come up with in my life right now, seeing as I don't write that many blog entries - its not that I don't want to, I just don't really know what to write about XD'

I saw Alejandra's newest blog entry - about Mako Eyes - today, which reminded me; I ordered two pairs of Mako Eyes earlier this month. Haha so that is sort of a news...if a little late. ^^"
I decided to go with a pair of Iberis 021 for Ludwig and Iberis 006 for Crow (he hasn't gotten his real name yet). I hate acrylic eyes, and the ones they came with were all broken when I received them, so I really hope these will work out for me. To get an idea of the colors I stalked both DoA and Flickr for owner pics. XD'
Whenever I think of Crow (anyone have any ideas for names?) I always gets "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor stuck in my head oO" So I wanted to see if I could find nice brown eyes that 'shines' ^^ Let's hope the IB-006 will do just that :D

Today I also got a bill from customs to pay for my Taobao order. I'm pretty impressed that its already here. :O
It was sent by SAL, so I thought it would take much longer. It always takes around a month for the stuff I buy on eBay XD
But that was a pleasant surprise. I hope I get to play around with it in December :D
Might make some minions for my crew ^___~

Currently I'm working on Freyah for the PW competition. I'm trying to see if I can give her a body tattoo and body blushing. Hope it will be done in time for the competition. XD'
Its mainly a swirl pattern with some lace-ish things and red carnation flowers. ^^ Hope it'll be nice in the end. I've never done it before, and my hands are not very familiar with using a brush on bigger areas like that. But it is fun to work with :D

Hope you can see what I mean. This is what I've managed to paint so far...so yeah...long way to go >_<" At least it is fun work :D

Bought Oscar Doll eyes

I've been brooding a lot about what to do style-wise with my dolls to make them look very unique and like they belong to me. I haven't had much luck with that until a few days ago.

Once again I found myself looking through Taobao in search for something cool, when it hits me - I keep going to the pages showing cute and frilly stuff. I don't want my dolls to be child-like, but I must confess I'm a sucker for lolita/mori/victorianesque dresses. So I think - maybe I should use this as my style, but make my own take on it.

First, I decide that I want Oscar Doll eyes for all my dolls. I love how they look and sparkle, and it gives a nice and exciting feel to the dolls imo. I wanted colorful eyes, because the clothes I'll be making (yeah, hopefully this will go well and not be an eternal project) will all be more dusty/powder colors. So I thought it might make a cool contrast with sparkly colorful eyes ^^

I hope to be able to make clothes that can look well together with my White Rabbit Tristan's full set, as I'd really like for him to wear it actually. It's so detailed and cool. It would be a shame to just use it for special shoots.

For the fun of it, I've played around with Photoshop to 'try the eyes I've bought in the dolls I want them in'. So here you can see which eyes I've ordered:

The Loli Clown eyes for my Fitzwilliam because they are red-ish and look really nice ^^

 The Aqua Blue eyes for Freyah, because I think she looks amazing with blue/green eyes :D

And the Divine Excorcist eyes for Ophelia, because I've always thought she needed yellow/orange-ish eyes, and I really found these interesting. I've ordered these in 14mm, but I got her Dlight Oscar Doll eyes in 16mm, so I'm pretty excited to see how they'll actually look (obviously not as fake as here) XD

I've been communicating a lot with PW over the last few days because of these eyes. They told me that the Dandy Tristan sculpt use 14mm Oscar Doll eyes, and that open eyed dolls would use 16mm Oscar Doll eyes. Therefore I tried ordering Ophelia's eyes a size smaller than her Dlight eyes, because I'd like to think it will look more 'natural' size-wise. :)

I'm really happy that PW allowed me to get all these eyes send (free shipping!) together with Fitzwilliam once he is ready. That was really cool of them. I also bothered them with my store points, because their home page had somehow stopped counting my points a year ago or so. XD'

So I almost got a pair of eyes for free! :O

That is it for now. The Taobao order from December is finally in Denmark, but due to really sloppy customs work, it has still not been released. ^^"

But I will make sure to post about all the stuff I've received when I do ;D

Had to order other eyes

Yeah, in the end, Taobaotrends had to inform me, that the seller from whom I wanted the previous posted eyes, was all out of stock. ;_;
So I had to find new eyes, and that was quite annoying. >_<

But I like what I found, it was a bit different than what I had in mind, but if I'm not satisfied when I get them home, I'll just buy some others.
Anyways, forget about the previous posted eyes, these will be the eyes I receive:

These turquoise glass eyes for Lucy

(I'm pretty sure they are the same as the ones I would have ordered anyway, so thats nice)

Green-grey glass eyes for Annabelle and Nellie

(I wanted them to have different types of pale green, but I couldn't find any I thought matched well with these, and I think these look really nice)

These pale brown-grey-pink-ish glass eyes will be for Loki

(originally, he was supposed to have grey eyes, but I liked that these were warmer and I think they'll look super nice on a boy)

So, now I'm looking forward to finally getting an email from Taobaotrends, saying they've received it all, and that it looks awesome ^_~

Unfortunately...

Taobaotrends wrote me today saying they ordered my stuff on Taobao.
Later though, I got a mail that the eyes for Lucy was out of stock :'(
I really like those eyes, so I'm quite sad I can't have them, but I choose another pair in stead as I have already payed:

These will be Lucy's eyes then. I like them, and they are more like the color I originally had planned for her, so it's not that bad. ^^

So yeah, just wanted to share. I just hate when the stuff you want is not in stock XD

The Taobao order

I promised to post what I actually ordered from Taobao, so here it is:

 2 pairs of these cute white socks for Annabelle and Nellie

5 pairs of panties

A pink and a purple pair of shoes for Annabelle and Nellie

Two different pair of green glass eyes for Annabelle and Nellie

Grey glass eyes for Loki

 

Blue glass eyes for Lucy

(I did go after blue eyes with black pupils, but I fell in love with these, so I couldn't help myself)

 

Cute, blond bob styled wig for Lucy

(It was important to me, that the bob cut did not just look like a round blob on her head, but that it looked like an actual haircut)

 

I ended up buying 2 of these wigs for Annabelle and Nellie

(Originally I had planned on more fluffy-curly types of wigs, but this one was really cute so I decided to give it a try)

And finally I bought these two dresses for Annabelle and Nellie

As I wrote previously, I had imagined Annabelle in blue/mint colors, but these dresses fitted the idea I have of the girls much better than any pink & blue dresses (I needed the same dress in two different colors, so it was hard to decide on which to buy). I've gotten quite used to the idea of Annabelle wearing purple already. And maybe it makes it a little more 'twin'-like XD

So yeah, this was a big order. I hope it will get past the customs once it is shipped, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the stuff IRL. Hope the standards are as my previous Taobao order. ^^

FINALLY!! The day came when I could go get Alice home from the post office.

YES! Today it happened! My note from customs told me I could go pick Alice up from the local Post Office. Today it is exactly 120 days since I ordered her, so that was a pretty long wait. I think I almost grew a beard. >_<"

Anyway, I was really surprised that the Danish customs only wanted me to pay around $38 for her, I thought I would need to cough up the triple of that sum. Phew so this months budget is saved! XD

Any anyway...I went and picked up the package and it was SO smaller and lighter than I am used to. She is my first doll under 58cm, so I was really surprised that I could easily carry her around and stuff. So nice. ^^
When I got home I immediately grabbed my camera and started documenting the box opening:

 

I was so excited about the resin color, and it is just as I thought, so I'm really really glad! She was totally worth the wait!
The clothes from Taobao is a bit big, but it looks really cute on her I think. The hat is sliding down at times though, but I should be able to fix that somehow, and if not, the set is just as cute without the hat ;P
I really like the eyes. I think they will really be awesome once I get her faceup done ^^
I might also want to get some brown socks for her...the white ones were the best of the three pairs I have, but I think brown ones would be better. XD
I've just been in happy-happy land all day because she is so perfect :3

Package recieved from Taobao

The stuff from Taobao has reached my home, and I was thrilled to find most of the items even better than the sales pictures shown.

First off the dress for Alice is just amazing! It's just as it looks on the photos, just even more awesome in reality. The bow on the hat might need some extra stitching, but that's nothing. All in all I am really positively surprised by the quality considering the price. I only payed 188 yuan for the whole set of shirt, skirt, cape, hat and neckt-frill-thing so that has really been a bargain. So I'd have no worries buying from Odd Aristocratic again someday. ^^

The brown boots turned out to be black, but that is not really a problem, seeing as I will definitely use them anyway. They are very nice despite being black in stead of brown XD
I also bought a pair of white Mary Janes with pink 'ribbons'. On the sales pics the ribbons seem baby pink, but they turned out to be much more pink pink....as in shocking pink. But they are very cute, and I think they helped me determine, that Nellie will wear baby pink, and Lucy will like pink pink. Oh to have two girls who like pink. But it was nice to get it sorted out so that I know more about what sort of clothes to buy for them.

The glass eyes are much more colorful than on the sales pic which is really nice. I'm so excited to see how the will look on Alice. They seem much prettier in real life than on the sales pics. :D

Last but not least the socks. They are much better sown than shown on the sales pics. They seem like better quality than on those pics. I don't know who will wear which socks, but it's nice to already have a selection.

My conclusion, after having looked through all the stuff in the parcel was, that I shall soon order from Taobao again, and that Taobaotrends really does a great job. :)

Now I just need to find som cute, matching school uniforms for Lucy and Loki, and a pretty lolita-ish dress in babypink and babyblue for Nellie and Annabelle. It's not easy because I'm very picky.

Spending all that money...why not spend some more!

As I wrote earlier, I ordered some stuff for Alice and the others.
My sister told me about Taobao a long time ago, but I didn't really have the energy to get acustomed to using an agent and stuff, so I never used it until a week or so ago. I found that Taobao has a lot of awesome stuff for BJDs and for a great price too, even with the agent fee.

So I made an order through Taobaotrends, which is really easy, and it took about two days and it was ordered. At the moment I am waiting for Taobaotrends to recieve the items and validate if they are as described. I'm really looking forward to see, how Taobaotrends are to deal with.
